Teenager charged with capital murder
A capital murder charge was recently filed against a 14-year-old girl from Dallas after she was suspected of drowning an infant, Reuters reported on January 26.
According to reports, police went to an apartment complex after an emergency call and later found the body of a 2-month-old baby girl. The teenage suspect, who was unnamed in the report, was apparently caring for the victim while her mother was at work. The teenager’s mother was a family friend of the baby’s mother, who was serving time in prison. Reports also said that there was another female teenager when the drowning occurred, and police are considering her as a witness. The suspect, who was later taken into custody, did not have legal counsel listed on the arrest report.
