Olympian Michael Phelps charged with DUI in Baltimore

Around 2:00 on October 1 a DUI charge was filed against Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, an article on NBC Washington stated.

According to reports, the 29-year-old swimming champion was seen speeding and driving erratically in the southbound lane of Interstate 395 heading out of Baltimore. Maryland Transportation Authority Police stopped and later arrested Phelps for driving under the influence. He apologized to his fans on Twitter and said he will take full responsibility for his actions. This isn’t the first time the Olympian has run into some legal trouble; he was also charged with DUI in 2004 and later was dropped by sponsors when photos of him smoking marijuana surfaced.
