Hockey player facing domestic violence charge in California

A professional hockey player was charged with felony domestic violence in Torrance, California after he allegedly assaulted his wife, ESPN LA stated on December 15.

According to reports, 24-year-old Los Angeles Kings player Slava Voynov was arrested last month after beating Marta Varlamova in their home. A Redondo Beach Police officer detailed how Voynov assaulted his spouse and stated he saw blood in their house. However, Varlamova stated later that she does not want her husband to be charged, claiming that the incident was just an accident. Voynov also claimed that he is innocent, his defense attorney stated. Voynov, who was suspended from the NHL since his arrest, is expected to appear in court on December 29.
